Motion to approve the minutes (March) was made by Georgia Bergan; seconded by Pamela Meyers. Motion approved.

Additions to the agenda: none

New Business:
a. Policy subcommittee will be Gus Janszen, Wayne Mosley, John Doviak, and David Nichols. Once a meeting date and time is decided, meeting information will be posted.
b. Dog Park idea discussion
  • A resident spoke with Councilman Ranz about the village developing a dog park area. Mr. Ranz forwarded the request to David Nichols.
  • David did some preliminary research, copies of which he distributed to members. Members were asked to review the material and consider possible locations, regulations, policies, etc. for establishing a dog park here in Evendale. At the May meeting, members will discuss and update with additional information from other sources.
Old Business:
a. Lifestyle Essentials report as noted in the packet
  • Amy Ash is the site manager. Layne Bryan has left for a full time position at his other job, and Kiran Napa will be leaving to attend school full time. Anna Santos and Melissa Starks will be joining the staff on a regular basis.
  • The Aquagator has an issue that needs to be checked by the manufacturer. The normal technician for this area is off on medical leave; therefore, a substitute will be here the third week of May.
  • New spinning instructor has joined Lifestyles and has been well received.
  • A “clicking” sound has developed on one of the elliptical machines.  David will investigate further.
b. Evendale Bike Master Plan update
  • The Tri-County Press newspaper had an article about Evendale’s efforts to establish bike pathways.
  • Our Bike Day event will be May 19th at 10:00am. A meeting to update everyone on Phase 3 plans maybe held on the same day. (Update: the meeting will most likely be held during that late summer.)
Director’s Report:
  • The federal government has revised ADA regulations (and are now being reviewed, again), and a few changes may effect Evendale. We currently have a portable lift; but we may need to install a permanent lift at the pool and at each of the spas. The wading pool may need to have a zero-depth entry installed.  The review may take up to six months before a final decision is made. Drain covers, which were mandated under the Virginia Graham Baker Act,  were recalled by the manufacturer. The recalled covers were replaced at our swimming complex, at no cost to the village.
  • The pool bathhouse floor is being resurfaced this month. The SCS play equipment (zero depth area of main pool) is being painted this month by Ron Johnson.
  • The tennis courts are being resurfaced. Two courts will have youth size court lines added thanks to a USTA grant.
  • Membership numbers show 46% of Evendale households have a full facility (fitness, pool, racquetball, tennis and spas/saunas) membership.
  • Swim Team registration is underway. The new website, www.EvendaleEagles.org, is up and running. Currently, we are asking families to go online and register on the website; after the parents’ meeting on May 7th, swim team members will be able to sign up for volunteer times and special events.
Phi Lambda Pi Report:
· Weekly attendance averages 20-25 members.
· Open House events have included kickball and sand volleyball activities.
· Members have recently volunteered at Evendale School’s Fun Fest, and the Recreation Department’s Egg-Stravaganza.
· The 53rd Annual Award’s Night program is Saturday, April 21st. This will be followed by a trip to Run, Jump, and Play; then back here to the Recreation Center for an overnight.

Open Discussion:
· Soccer Field #3 has been “closed” for re-conditioning, but more needs to be done.  Despite the efforts of this Department, dips and grass bare spots remain. Gus Janszen remains concerned for the safety of players using the field; other coaches have also expressed concerns  to Gus regarding the field. A motion was made by Gus Janszen for the village to hire a company, that deals with field restoration, and have soccer field #3 professionally repaired. Motion is seconded by Stiney Vonderhaar. Motion approved.
· The soccer teams are doing well this season. We have two teams at the U-8 level.
· Griffin Preserve Clean Up is scheduled on May 19th. Donuts will be available for breakfast, and pizza will be delivered about lunchtime.
· The village computer IT person is working on installing Wi-Fi here on the grounds. One signal post has been installed on the firehouse training tower; while a second unit will be installed here on the Recreation Center building. Primary focus, at the center, is to reach the center’s lobby area, Evendale (Adult Gathering) Room, the Community Room, the Multi-purpose Room, and hopefully the Conference Room.
· This Friday evening, Marguerite Feibelman, an Evendale resident, will be here to speak about her book “Whisper Your Name Into My Ear” .  Her book recalls the family’s escape from Nazi Germany, and her involvement in the French Resistance.

Motion to adjourn made by Wayne Mosley at 8:22am; seconded by Stiney Vonderhaar.  Motion approved.
